Gift idea time! Here’s a story of a
great gift to spark your creativity
The “hometown in a box" Gift:
Last Christmas, my cousin wasn't able to come home to Cleveland due to work commitments. It was tough for her as she always looked forward to our family gatherings during the holidays. I wanted to bring a piece of home to her, so after some research, I came across Cleveland in a Box. I was able to choose a number of Cleveland-themed goodies that I knew she would love. She FaceTimed me immediately after receiving it, and we were able to virtually ‘unbox’ it together. She was so thankful! The box served as a connection to our traditions and shared experiences. It made her feel closer to home and family, and it lifted her spirits even though she was miles away.

Hometown in a box services:
To research if your desired city has a “hometown in a box” service, google “[insert city name] gift box” or “[insert city name] themed gift basket”
Here are some that I found for select US hometowns/homestates: Austin, Arizona, Boston, Buffalo, California cities, Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, DC, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas City, Maine, Minnesota, Nashville, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Antonio, Seattle, Texas cities, Wisconsin
Build your own “home in a box”:
If a suitable local “city in a box” service isn’t available, you can personally curate a collection of hometown items and box/ship them to your gift-recipient
For shipping domestically within the USA, a USPS flat rate large box (up to 70 lbs) ships for around $20

Inspired by 🎁 $0 cost for memories never lost:
I LOVE your newsletter! Last year I discovered it after it was mentioned in a magazine and reference it any time I need a gift giving boost. I gave my husband a "jar of memories" for xmas last year after reading a story of something similar and it was his favorite gift ever. Thank you for this incredible resource!
