My attempt to make you smile
before getting to today’s gift ideas

Hi gift-givers! Today we highlight a gift that’ll motivate you to use your upcoming family get-togethers as opportunities to collaborate on future group gifts.

One-ish more thing(s)
before today’s gift ideas

Which Better Gift Coch gifts are perfect for someone to give you? I’ve made my guess, and I’m curious if you agree…

This all depends on your Gift Language, of course!

Huh? What’s a gift language? Good question. Our friends at Hugsi have worked with one of the world’s leading academics in gift-giving psychology to develop the 6 Gift Languages.

Better Gift Coach and Hugsi collaborated to create a free 3-minute quiz that determines your Gift Language to uncover which BGC gifts are perfect for someone to give you.

More about Hugsi: Elevate your gift-giving with Hugsi by learning your recipients' Gift Language™, ensuring every gift is cherished. Get customized gifts ideas perfectly fit for everyone on your list.

Gift idea time! Here’s a story of a
great gift to spark your creativity

The “family memory book" Gif:

My Dad was turning 90, and having memory issues.  We made him a book in which each family member has a page that contains photos of themself and a written memory they have about my Dad.  This way my Dad can look at the book and see who a relative is and read their lovely words about him.

Why this gift is great

  • Group gift

  • Budget-friendly

  • Super thoughtful & meaningful - celebrates one’s life and their impact on the lives of others

Brainstorming your version of this gift

Family gatherings are great opportunities to pitch this gift to potential contributors

Although most scrapbooks can be customized to accommodate photos and notes, I found two specific book options that seem to provide a ready-made template for this gift:

Potential gift-recipients beyond those experiencing memory loss:

  • Grandparents

  • Longtime co-workers

  • Those nearing the end of life

  • Those experiencing depression

  • Those who could use a self-esteem boost

This gift is similar to the 🎁 The “crowdsourced memories" Gift and the 🎁 The “remember when’s" Gift

Making this gift happen

  • Who in your life might be experiencing memory loss or could use a reminder of the collective impact they’ve had on you and others? ____

  • When is your next family gathering when you can pitch this gift to potential contributors? ____

For making this and other gifts happen, consider BGC’s playbook for confident gift-giving that saves you time & stress: 4-Step Playbook for Giving Better Gifts in a Busy World. Interested, but not sure? Here’s a free preview of the playbook.

Have you been inspired by a gift idea shared in the BGC newsletter? It would be the highlight of my week to hear from you about it! Here’s who made my week:

I was a single mother for a number of years when my daughter was growing up and we became very close.  On my 50th birthday she gave me a collage of pictures (before digital) of my/our life.  To this day, almost 20 years later, it is on my wall in my office where I see it every day.  It is a treasure and was the most meaningful and heartwarming gift I ever received because I know it was made with love!
