Hi gift-givers! This newsletter serves as your ruby slippers for clicking to get back to that special place…the gift-brainstorming zone.
One-ish more thing(s)
before today’s gift ideas
I am honored to have been a guest on the popular podcast, The Everyday Style School. The host, Jennifer Mackey-Mary asked several questions I’m sure many of you are asking yourselves. Such as, “how do I find gifts for the hard-to-shop-for people (men) in my life?” and “how do I avoid the last-minute gift trap?”. Click here to listen to the interview.

Gift idea time! Here’s a story of a
great gift to spark your creativity
The “hometown connection" Gift:
We gift our mother with a newspaper subscription to the town she grew up in. She loves it! Mom enjoys reading information about people she grew up with and/or are related to her. Small-town newspapers have obituaries, marriages, and even arrest reports. She gets a kick out of all of that.
Why this gift is great
Nostalgia!
Unique, personalized, thoughtful
Continued connection to their community
Brainstorming your version of this gift
Hometown gift/food baskets:
Consider Goldbelly.com which allows you to ship iconic hometown foods nationwide
Some cities may have their own boutique gift basket services that you can find by googling “[insert city name] gift box”. For example, Cleveland in a Box, Chicago in a Box, Home Sweet Home Georgia Basket
Other hometown gift items:
Hometown clothing apparel
Customized hometown crossword puzzle or trivia game
Customized map items - Etsy has many options including map prints, glassware, clothing, phone cases, drink coasters, light switch covers
Hometown experience gifts:
Virtual hometown walking tour - find someone locally who can walk around on a video call
Pay for sports streaming services so they can watch their hometown team while living in another region (NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB.tv, NBA League Pass)
